This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for Rail Compliance Inspector(s) at the WMATA Rail Operations Control Center (ROCC) . The function of this position is to conduct third-rail compliance inspection within the ROCC to ensure power is restored in a safe manner and all the relevant protocols and procedures are followed.
Your Impact
Monitoring Restoration of Third Rail Power
Ensuring that the power restoration process is followed and, if it is not, intervene, stop the process and inform the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent on duty in the ROCC
Completing a recorded observation and verification that the correct steps in the process have been followed for every occurrence of power restoration across the system
Signing off the decision to restore third rail power prior to power being restored.
Monitoring Procedural Compliance during Emergency Incidents
Providing a “second eye”, monitoring Operator actions and decision-making with regards to management of a pre-defined list of emergency incidents
Complete a recorded observation and verification to assess whether Operators follow checklists during emergency incidents.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a rail & transit controller, traction power technician, rail power desk controller, or rail safety investigator
Proven professional experience and familiarity with the importance and critical safety implications of adhering to operational procedures, and
Must have proven strong communication skills (written and verbal) and high levels of emotional intelligence to effectively establish and manage professional relationships.
Required to be on site in the ROCC at either Carmen Turner Facility or the back-up ROCC location of Jackson Graham Building.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Applicants must be able to pass a background/criminal history check
