The Yahoo Commerce team’s mission is to help our users discover and make informed decisions about products and services so they can save time and money. We primarily serve audiences who are in their shopping journeys across all Yahoo properties. We work directly with our partners to reach new audiences, gain new users, and drive GMV through leveraging our ecosystem of products and services.

About Role

We are looking for an experienced engineer who works well in a cross-functional environment designing and developing world class systems and solutions for our users and our partners. This role will work directly with engineering peers, data scientists, product managers, and designers to expand our growing catalog of product offerings. This role will be directly responsible for building, maintaining, and iterating on the systems needed to deliver commerce products.

Responsibilities

• Develop highly performant web and system applications that are validated by strong unit tests, continuous integration testing, and regression tests
• Collect, analyze and convert data into engineering and business insights
• Work with Business and Product teams to conduct research, and develop systems that support ongoing innovations and discover strategic opportunities
• Support our applications in production, including working with our Support, Operations, and Product teams to minimize the incident impact on our business
• You’ll also work on Commerce ecosystem expansion, delivering against a holistic monetization strategy across numerous verticals
• Responsible for the definition, design, development and timely completion of major new features in current and future products
• Performing code reviews for your peers where you will be learning from and contributing to collaborative working models
• Tackling hard engineering and user experience problems and solving them in an elegant and seamless manner
• Working with engineering team members to explore and create interesting solutions while sharing knowledge amongst the team
• Collaborating with user experience designers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver new products, features, enhancements, platform improvements and bug fixes
• Recommend alternative approaches to solving complex problems and use new technologies to achieve goals

Qualifications

• You are an outstanding software engineer with significant experience building and maintaining complex software systems and/or web applications
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields
• You enjoy working with a strong, cross-functional, and sometimes cross-geography team of engineers and data scientists, and you are passionate about working with our business and product teams to turn ideas into products
• You love coding and experimenting with new technologies
• You always think positively, have a can-do attitude, and focus on “getting stuff done” with quality
• People like to work with you because you’re a fast learner, a capable engineer, and a responsible team player
• Strong interests in building large-scale distributed systems
• Experience in online advertising serving systems, large-scale data processing, and complex ad hoc analyses
• Experience with the in the following technologies (or equivalent); Node.js, React.js, CSS, HTML, YAML, TypeScript, PHP, Python, Java
• Experience working on web products end-2-end with a deep understanding of web principals

The compensation for this position ranges from $88,500.00 – $184,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
