York Region Hiring For Supervisor, Court Support at Richmond Hill, ON Full Time

• Supervises the daily operation of the court support team in a digital environment, ensuring the administration of justice and compliance with provincial statutes and legislation, ministry direction and local policies and procedures.
• Oversees the planning of the local court sitting schedule according to the regional judicial policies and directives.
• Implements procedures to reduce and prevent trial backlogs in the system through efficient case flow management.
• Oversees the delivery of court support services to numerous stakeholders including the judiciary, policing and enforcement agencies, lawyers, agents, defendants, and the general public.
• Ensures “clerk of the court” functions are carried out in accordance with provisions in the Provincial Offences Act.
• Assists in change management activities; evaluate the change impact and employee readiness to limit potential risk; and supports training and communication.
• Responds to emerging issues, assessing the impact on Court Services, including recommendations for action to Manager.
• Implements service delivery changes and improvements to ensure efficient operation of in-court support services.
• Ensures the proper secured storage and accuracy of all court records and data for all processes and proceedings under the Act.
• Provides administrative and courtroom support to the judiciary including direction and leadership to staff, coordinating and assigning work.
• Prepares and analyses reports, statistics on court activities and financial transactions for senior management and identifies opportunities for improvement.
• Responds to customer enquiries directly and/or resolves difficult or highly sensitive complaints either verbally or in writing.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful completion of a College Diploma in Business Administration, Court Administration or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a court environment and demonstrated minimum of one (1) year of direct supervisory experience.
• Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations.
• Contemporary staff supervisory skills including knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles and practices, and relevant employment legislation.
• Demonstrated ability in the Region’s leadership and corporate core competencies.
• Informed and active leadership to confront bias and systemic barriers and comply with or build inclusive practices in business processes, recruitment practices, team management, etc. to ensure inclusive and equitable workplace.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with individuals, groups and external agencies.
