Education:
Community College Diploma in Computer Science or an equivalent of 2 years recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Minimum of three years’ recent related experience which includes: installing and supporting desktop computers in a large, heterogeneous network environment with emphasis on Microsoft Windows, dealing with computer packages and their applications.
Skills:
Significant and direct interaction with non-technical clients and technical colleagues (both York and non-York) requires effective communication skills (written and verbal) in resolving technical problems and eliciting accurate information in response to inquiries. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field and escalate to experienced staff as required. Ability to exercise tact and discretion and maintain confidentiality when dealing with clients. Coaching skills required in order to assist clients (Staff) in the use of hardware and software systems. Strong service orientation coupled with ability to assess the operational significance of a problem and to set priorities accordingly. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex information with attention to detail. Willingness to learn new computer systems and skills.
