Education:
College Certificate in Office Administration or equivalent (e.g., one year of related University courses).
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of administrative experience in an academic School/Department, including supporting academic and administrative processes and activities, providing degree and certificate information to students, and customer service.
Skills:
A. Knowledge of academic administration processes (course scheduling, curriculum support).B. Basic knowledge of York’s Academic Honesty procedures.C. Knowledge of degree and program requirements.D. Knowledge of and experience utilizing degree progress report would be an asset.E. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with people.F. Effective oral communication skills to elicit and provide accurate information in a clear and concise manner including active listening, good written communication skills, and minute taking.G. Ability to exercise the skills of good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and initiative.H. Effectiveness in attending accurately to details.I. The ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team.J. Excellent organizational skills are essential to simultaneously handle competing priorities.K. The ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex, rapidly changing high volume environment, including the ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.L. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new computer applications, new procedures.M. Ability to source, evaluate, analyze and summarize information for reporting and planning purposes.N. Demonstrated experience in the development and preparation of promotional materials and written content would be preferred.O. Using software to update websites (e.g., WordPress or Contribute).P. Keyboarding 40-45 w.p.m., accuracy essential.Q. MS Word (advanced level) and MS Excel (intermediate level).R. E-mail software (e.g., Lotus Notes).S. Proficiency with on-line student records system (SIS) or a similar on-line database.
