JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the physical security and investigations in the assigned geographical areas of responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct security assessments and investigations for assigned terminals, provide follow-up, and assist with problem solving and support.
Control losses due to theft, pilferage, and vandalism. Observe terminal operation during all hours to witness theft or alcohol/drug abuse. Document these actions through photographic or video recording and detailed written reports for use during disciplinary proceedings, grievance hearings, or court cases. Assist Operations management in developing security programs and policies and procedures to minimize company loss.
Conduct daily investigations of specific incidents, theft of freight, time, or company property by identifying the source or cause of the loss. Develop and maintain a close working relationship with key local, state, and federal law enforcement personnel and confidential and non-confidential sources to facilitate access to necessary records and/or information needed during these investigations.
Develop and maintain a close working relationship with fraud units and state personnel involved in insurance fraud. Maintain a working knowledge of state laws regarding workers’ compensation. Testify in court or at labor hearings as necessary.
Review on-line service center security surveys to ensure proper procedures and controls are in place. Furnish advice to managers regarding appropriate security products and Homeland Security issues.
Assist other members of the security department as needed on special projects as assigned by the appropriate manager.
Assist management in marketing presentations to prospective and current customers regarding security.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate’s degree or equivalent education or experience.
Five (5) years law enforcement experience.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of the judicial system.
Previous investigative background including the collecting and preserving of evidence.
Knowledge of surveillance techniques.
Ability to present marketing aspects of security to potential customers.
Ability to work in a team concept environment.
Experience using MS Office applications (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
Travel up to 50% the time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational background or work experience.
Five (5) years industry experience.
Military experience.
Knowledge of the technical aspects of security products used in the industry.
Knowledge of proper freight handling/loading techniques.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Routinely uses security equipment such as monitors and cameras. Occasional work in terminal and shop floors being exposed to heat and cold.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 20 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
