We are looking for an Environmental Services Coordinator who can lead, plan, direct and evaluate the delivery and operation of Environmental Services at our Whitehorse Continuing Care facilities. In this position, you’ll take an active role in the day to day activities within all areas of the building, including coordinating and supervising staff in the facilities, coordinating cleaning and laundry management and ensuring the provision and maintenance of a clean, safe environment for the well-being of Residents, staff, volunteers and the general public.

Essential qualifications:

Certificate or diploma in Environmental Services Management or Healthcare Environmental Services/Housekeeping recognized by a Canadian Jurisdiction.
Recent and demonstrable experience of Environmental Services Management gained in a Healthcare setting.
Recent supervisory experience
Supervisory experience gained in a unionized or shift work environment would be an asset
Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Suitability:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on
Good knowledge of and ability to apply up to date healthcare related infection control and health and safety principles and practices, including biohazardous and hazardous waste handling
Ability to provide leadership, supervision and teaching/coaching to a team across multiple sites
Demonstrated understanding of client-centred service
Outstanding communication skills, written and oral, within a trans-disciplinary environment
Demonstrated ability to analyze and troubleshoot problems, make recommendations for change, and implement and evaluate decisions, within a fast-paced environment

Conditions of Employment
Have and maintain current recognized certification in Certificate or diploma in Environmental Services Management or Healthcare Environmental Services/Housekeeping with registered Canadian jurisdiction, WHMIS 2015, RCMP Security Clearance w/vulnerable sector, & TB screening
Job requirements
The temperature of the facility is maintained at a slightly higher temperature than a regular office environment, which may cause some discomfort, Incumbent is required to walk, sit and stand, and use a computer screen, exposure to chemical and cleaning compounds dust, dirt and areas with unpleasant fumes, exposure to infectious diseases, exposure to animals and second hand smoke from residents, potential exposure to latex products, there is some potential for exposure to emotionally, physically and verbally abusive, dissatisfied residents/client or family members, & regular critical deadlines in laundry management, combined with constant interruptions
