Yukon Government Looking for GRADCORPS: Assessor at Whitehorse, YT Full Time

The Yukon public service has a unique opportunity for recent graduates who have a post-secondary diploma or degree but lack real-world work experience. With GradCorps, you can kick-start your career while putting your passion, ideas and energy to work with the Yukon public service.

The Department of Community Services has a GradCorps opportunity for a Property Assessor. This intern will work with Assessors to determine values on a wide variety of property, buildings, machinery, land, equipment or other assets for the purpose of taxation.

This position will work for a one-year Term from approximately April 2022 to April 2023. The salary will be 80% of the starting salary – $61,499

Essential Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Public Administration, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Urban Geography, Land Planning or other related field;

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite;

Experience working with real estate and/or building construction would be an asset.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

Candidates should have and may be assessed on:
Project management skills;

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;

Being detail-oriented and well organized;

Strong oral and written communication skills;

Self-motivation & working well independently.

Additional Information

Conditions of Employment: Class 5 Yukon Drivers’ Licence.

Job Requirements: Travel throughout Yukon required.

NOTE: To qualify for the GradCorps program, you must:

• be a resident of Yukon or a person of Yukon First Nations ancestry*
• have graduated with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution within the past two years (2020, 2021 or 2022 grads – all requirements for graduation must be complete before internship start date)
• have little or no work experience in your field of study
• If you are a resident of Yukon who completed your studies outside of the territory, you may apply up two years after graduation.
