Sealord retains its home base in New Zealand and has led the seafood industry in the careful and sustainable management of fish and seafood resources. This role is based at their processing facility in Nelson.

Reporting directly to the General Manager – Marketing, the Innovation Manager will play a key role in ensuring Sealord continues to deliver a continuous flow of new, improved and more profitable value streams utilising improved product and packaging development and process improvement. As a quota-driven business, Sealord’s focus is on identifying ways to optimise returns on a limited resource, and converting these into commercial realities. ‘Innovation’ is not restricted to what you see on the supermarket shelf, but will include optimising the use of the waste stream or low value species.

Strong relationships must be built across the business, in particular with manufacturing and logistics teams to design and deliver new products on time and within agree cost constraints while optimising existing products as they travel through their life cycle. This role is also external facing, working closely with external industry bodies (Plant & Food Research, Callaghan Institute) – so the ability to develop these relationships is also critical. This role will lead a small team of Technologists and will suit a person who wishes to think strategically while also remaining hands-on.
