As a result of our growing operations in the APAC region, we’re now seeking a Software Engineer to join our Strategic Integrations team in Melbourne.

You’ll be part of a high-performing team responsible for building distributed, high scale and data-intensive integrations and data-pipelines that extend our market-leading core SaaS product. Partnered with other SaaS providers and cloud vendors. Our products commonly incorporate the latest technologies and features to provide the cutting edge solutions to our customers. We enjoy working with Engineers who possess a strong growth-mindset, are enthusiastic at problem solving and are able to demonstrate leadership qualities. Our integrations process around 10 million events per day, so you will be challenged by the global scale and complexity of these systems.

What the stack looks like:
  • Our backend is written in Go, Ruby and a little PHP.
  • Our frontend is written in JavaScript, Typescript with React.
  • Our compute runs mostly on Kubernetes
  • Our data is stored in AWS Aurora, S3 and streamed through Kafka
  • Our team manages all of this using CloudFormation.
What you get to do every day:
  • You’ll get the chance to work on the Zendesk platform, the Zendesk Apps framework, various Zendesk core technologies and a series of popular SaaS platforms.
  • Working as a member of a Scrum team, you will collaborate with other Engineers and a Product Manager to deliver frequent releases that meet the high-quality standards Zendesk upholds.
  • Contribute to discussions and decision-making on technical design and standards.
  • Mentor other team members and advocate for engineering best practices.
What you bring to the role:
  • Experience in a backend language such as Go or Ruby.
  • Experience in frontend development using: JavaScript, Typescript with React is desirable.
  • Experience designing, leading and implementing customer facing software projects.
  • Experience in analyzing and refactoring existing software systems.
  • Takes ownership of complex problems and collaborates broadly to develop solutions
  • Great communication skills both written and verbal and the ability to influence others within the organisation with diplomacy and tact.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on the delivery of quality work with a mindfulness of timelines needed for the business.
  • Ability to influence without authority, inspire and mentor others.
  • Use best practices at every stage of the development cycle, peer code review and deployment.
