The Apps Framework team is part of the Zendesk Platform group, being responsible for the development and success of the Zendesk Apps system. With over 60,000 customers and 400 developers actively using and building with our product, our goal is to enable Zendesk products to be easily customised, integrated, and extended by third-party developers. We are now looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. The role will be focused on driving feature delivery for our products, while actively ensuring the stability and scalability of our systems to support a rapidly growing customer base.
Staff Engineer is our name for the band above Senior. As a Staff engineer, you will have the opportunity to participate in a cross functional team collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams around the world.

Support and grow a sophisticated platform which developers build their businesses upon
Work across a broad range of technologies from Nginx, Go, Ruby, AWS cloud services, to Javascript, TypeScript, React
Be a prominent contributor to the technical vision and future architecture of Zendesk Apps
Collaborate with teams across global Zendesk offices on challenging projects
Champion observability and stability, analyse performance metrics and lead data-driven optimisations
Mentor other members of the team and advocate for engineering best practices
Proactively seek to improve our infrastructure, code, and processes
What you bring to the role:
A seasoned full-stack engineer with a track record of delivering large-scale, high quality, high availability, and resilient systems
Extensive knowledge and hands-on skills with back-end development and infrastructure. Fluent in one or more programming languages such as Go, Java, Scala or similar.
Comfortable working with Linux commands, containers (Docker & Kubernetes), logging and monitoring, CI/CD tools
Experience with Javascript and front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, Ember, or similar, is good to have
Ability to understand and present complex concepts in a relevant and considerate manner. Explain and reason your technical decisions clearly and effectively.
Great collaboration and communication skills. Passionate about influencing, inspiring and mentoring others.
Passionate about elegant, performant, and maintainable code. A learning mindset and a desire to improve.
