Plans, performs and implements process improvement initiatives (such as Lean or Six Sigma). Diagrams and evaluates existing processes. Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams. Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, identifying indicators for future improvement opportunities. Collects data to identify root cause of problems. Measures performance against process requirements. Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls. Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance and product quality. May deliver presentations and training courses including measurement, analysis, improvement and control. Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes. Communicates team progress. Performs cost and benefit analyses.

About the role

The Program Manager, People Operations is responsible in charge of analyzing, streamlining, and developing tools, and programs. This role will partner with Product, IT, HR, Legal and other internal stakeholders to define and refine Zillow’s People Operations processes. This is both a hands-on strategic role that provides project leadership and supports Product and People Org partnered projects. This role plays a crucial part in implementing project initiatives, handling change, driving functional excellence, process improvement, and transitioning new processes to partners when appropriate, while providing outstanding customer support. This position is for someone that thrives in a collaborative environment!

This role has been categorized as a Hybrid position. “Hybrid” employees regularly work at an existing ZG corporate office for approximately 10 to 80 percent of their time each month, and the rest of the time they may work from a remote physical location of their choice within a reasonable commuting distance from the corporate office which must be identified to the Company in advance. The Recruiter and Hiring Manager will set expectations on the employee’s preferred time in office. ZG has not defined a reasonable distance, and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications re: time commitment and cost of daily commute.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $63,900.00 – $102,100.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

What You’ll Do:

Business Process Analysis

• Identify breaks and bottlenecks in processes and propose solutions to improve speed and scale.
• Vet solutions with a cross functional team to implement or sunset process steps.
• Apply a continuous improvement approach to identify ways for People Operations to eliminate wasted process steps.
• Independently capture information from a variety of sources; to analyze, interpret, and summarize data gathered, and to deliver insights and implement improvements.
• Facilitate problem-solving activities to define problems, assess current state root causes, design and test solutions, and implement solutions leading to desired outcomes tied to business results.
• Act as the SME on the process flow. Partner across stakeholders to limit defects from flowing downstream.

Project Management

• Consult with People Operations team managers and HR team to help identify areas of opportunity and recommend improvements as needed; eliminate duplication and provide accurate support and knowledge transfer.
• Lead day-to-day project progression while considering scope, risk, and timelines; leverage project plans regularly and effectively communicate project expectations and timelines to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
• Own end-to-end processes and events on a project, take initiative, and use problem-solving skills to think beyond the task to the outcome that needs to be achieved; ensure all stakeholders are aligned with clear planning and defined processes to help effectively execute the project.
• Build and implement documentation to enable (and at times, build) SOPs, job aids, and communications material to educate and train team members and partners.
