ZIWI Looking for Quality Assurance Officer at Burnham, Canterbury, New Zealand Full Time

Based at our Burnham site in Christchurch and reporting to the Quality Manager, this is a pivotal role in ensuring the daily quality control and quality assurance processes are followed to ensure all ZIWI manufactured products meet the established standards of quality and food safety as set by both ZIWI and regulatory authorities. This role will dedicate 50% of its time to the Air-dried (jerky) side and the remaining 50% to the Treats and Chews side.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensure daily quality control measures are being achieved and complete quality checks as required to meet product specifications
• Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
• Complete post manufacture product quality assessment and investigate any non-conformance issues.
• QA sign off for production records
• Liaise with MPI and assist with the administration of the RMP
• Coordinate and complete internal calibration of equipment
• Coordinate and complete internal audits and driving improvements
• Monitor and liaise with the site’s pest control provider
• Maintain and enhance QA work processes and systems
• Ensure all H & S, environmental and food safety processes and policies are followed
• Complete internal process and control point validations

The person we are seeking will have:

• Proven track record with a min of three years in a similar QA role, preferable within an FMCG/food production environment – relevant tertiary qualification an advantage
• Sound knowledge of Animal Product E-cert certification system would be desirable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels
• Technical understanding and practical commercial experience
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of RMP, food safety and HACCP systems
• A collaborative hands-on approach and can positively influence change across all levels
• Self-management and motivational skills
• Positive attitude
