Who we are
The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is a service provider and regulator, focusing on delivering first-class customer service, digital transformation and regulatory reform to create better outcomes for the people of NSW.
DCS has proudly introduced many innovations in service delivery and is continuing to adopt contemporary tools, techniques and systems to improve customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
DCS is currently undertaking an ambitious digital transformation of government services, underpinned by the Digital Government Strategy.

About the Project
The Licensing Program is key to DCS’ vision to be the world’s most customer centric government. It is our aim to engage through delivering smarter, user orientated digital solutions, reducing red tape, enhancing business productivity and protecting NSW communities.
The Licensing Program’s goal is to create end to end digital vocational licences from application and processing through to a digital licence on a customer’s phone. Replacing manual processes and products will increase the productivity of customers and agencies, contributing significant economic benefits to NSW.
About the Role
The Program is seeking multiple temporary and ongoing technical resources to change the way licensing services are delivered to the citizens of NSW.
We are looking for Principal Software Engineers to work within dedicated, multi-disciplinary product teams to deliver outcomes using Agile methodology.
We are developing a new platform that uses SQL capabilities to improve customer and user experiences; cutting across agency lines to deliver true end to end services from Service NSW front-end, through to regulators and platform.
About you
You are capable of leading the build/configuration and deployment of high-quality, reliable, reusable and maintainable ICT / Digital systems to support the delivery of strategic objectives for the Organisation and/or partner agencies.
You can lead end-to-end product development through build/configuration, release, maintenance and enhancement of product features while applying appropriate security controls, that are fit for purpose and in alignment with ICT / Digital strategy, to deliver high quality products, systems, processes, technologies and/or services which are thoroughly tested and optimised.
You will have extensive experience in working in a fully agile software development environment and good working knowledge of technologies outlined below.
You will be self-motivated and have demonstrated experience in working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams and a record of achievement in a high-pressured, deadline driven environment.
