Position Summary:

This position operates as part of the care team performing a variety of functions related to insurance verification, eligibility, and medical records processing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

• Utilize AdvancedMD to determine eligibility and perform insurance verification prior to all patient visits
• Prepare charts with complete patient registration information for all locations
• Contact patients regarding missing information, update information in scheduling system (AdvancedMD) with detailed notes
• Review next-day appointments, determine past-due balances
  • Enter billing alerts in billing system
  • Call patients with balances over $50; payment will be due at appointment
• Manually perform eligibility checks for last-minute appointments
• Verify and receive authorization for all workers compensation claims by patient’s employer prior to visit
  • Ensure claim number, address, and contact for Claim Adjuster in patient’s chart in AdvancedMD
• Determine and verify co-pay, co-insurance, and deductible for different visits
• Responsible for referral processing tasks for new and established patients including prior authorization
• Process any ROI’s
• Ensure all patient information, demographics, and insurance information is correct in AdvancedMD and EMAMD

Experience Requirements

• Minimum one-year experience in a clinical medical office environment, preferred

Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, professional attitude, reliable
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• Ability to communicate in an active multi-office environment
• Ability to efficiently operate all job-related office equipment
• Ability to follow or provide verbal and written instructions
• Ability to relate to persons with diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds
• Basic to intermediate computer operation
• Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving
• Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
