We are seeking a Candle Lab Safety Technician for 1st shift. The hours for this position are 5:00 AM-3:00 PM Tuesday-Friday. You will use standardized procedures to sample, analyze, measure, and test the product. You will also record results to assist in the development and advancement of the product.
Job Responsibilities:
Confer with management regarding appropriate daily assignments.
Conduct candle performance and safety testing according to ASTM and adherence to customer methods.
Collect, review, and analyze burn lab data, resolving any issues before filing and uploading. Maintain proper documentation.
Operate a digital camera and photography editing software to document test results in accordance with operational procedures.
Measure candle emissions using an electronic Densitometer and perform mathematical calculations for analysis and reporting.
Train or re-train burn lab staff in performance of the job, quality standards and other requirements.
Maintain a clean, organized lab facility with proper care/storage of equipment and tools, and routine cleaning including countertops, cabinets, floors, filters and burn lab equipment.
Maintain lab safety practices and policies.
Perform ASTM D92 Cleveland open cup flash point analysis.
Identify problems concerning equipment, process, materials, safety, etc. and consult with supervisor relative to suggested resolution.
Operate a K-Type Thermocouple thermometer and Infrared Thermometer Gun.
Receive and log in samples into lab database.
Perform candle burn evaluation and wick optimization by trimming wicks to ¼” lighting candles documenting date and start time, making observations just prior to extinguishing candles, blowing out candles, documenting observations, notifying Burn Lab Group Leader of any abnormalities.
Document Burn Room workload and results using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Maintain burn sample retain program.
Dispose of waste candles.
May be asked to perform other duties as assigned that are not listed above.
Travel is not required for this position, however there may be some opportunity to travel to our Ohio facility (
Rate: $16.50/hr
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
1 year of related experience
Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
Preferred Qualifications
Previous data entry experience highly desired
Previous experience working in a laboratory environment a plus
Ability to read and interpret documents as well as prepare routine reports
Comfortable with math; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.
