General Assistant – Sample Receipt Clerk
Location: ALS Environmental, Burnaby

ALS Environmental operates a network of laboratories and provides an extensive range of environmental analytical testing services, including soil, water, air, biota, radiochemistry and industrial hygiene. If you’re passionate about working in a team environment, then we want to hear from you. Previous laboratory experience or post-secondary education is not required. Full training will be provided!
General responsibilities:
Assisting with sample receiving procedures;
Organizing samples and transporting them into the laboratory;
Entering information into the laboratory data system;
Labelling samples and distributing them to appropriate locations;
Coordinating and communicating sample prioritization and turnaround times;
Ensuring a high level of customer service in all interactions with clients and couriers;
Learning and using industry leading procedures in analytical testing;
Challenging yourself to meet quick turnaround commitments;
Identifying safety hazards and keeping the work area clean and tidy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data using a computer (Basic use of Microsoft Office);
Ability to work independently or as part of a team;
Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal);
Experience working in a fast-paced or production environment is an asset;
Required Qualifications and Physical Demands
Completion of high-school diploma or equivalent required;
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kg
Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust mask, glove when required.
