Purpose of the role
The Network and Cloud Engineer role is to design, build and support any networking that is required for all self-service technology airport solutions, both the passenger operations as well as the remote support access for the Global Support team as well as oversee the ICM cloud infrastructure from a cost effectiveness perspective. The technology infrastructure varies from simple VPN tunnels between the airport and the cloud, through to end-to-end business critical on premise Auto Bag Drop and Self-Service Kiosk networks such as Changi and Narita Airports. The installed cloud base includes corporate and customer infrastructure installed in various cloud regions across the globe.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Function
- Design network and firewall infrastructure and connectivity for passenger self-service technology connectivity
- Implement and enhance NextGen support for network and firewall technology including support automation, automatic alerting and integration to 3rd party tools as required
- Develop and utilise a good working knowledge of cloud services billing so as to ensure that this is operated as cost-effectively as possible utilising all available features such as reserved instances, operational clocks etc
- Ensure that cloud services costs are appropriately allocated to project and support contracts on a monthly basis
Network Management
- Ensure an appropriate level of support from 3rd parties and that support contracts are timeously renewed
- Plan, execute and review the outcome of network failover tests
Procedural Knowledge
- Ensure deliverables meet the required ICM quality standards.
- Effectively apply the required procedures and methodologies,
knowledge sharing and upskilling of the network team
Working with others
- Work cooperatively to achieve team goals making constructive suggestions to move things forward.
- Build stable and useful working relationships with others outside the immediate area of work.
- Manage other network engineers to ensure team deliverables are achieved

- Develop ability to solve complex problems.
- Demonstrate competence in own area, completing own role independently or with minimal supervision/ guidance.
- Continued development of technical capability.
- Detailed knowledge of cloud services and associated billing
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s Degree, Cisco Certification or equivalent experience
- 3+ years network design and support experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing and monitoring business critical networking and firewall technology
- Experience in automation, logging, alerting and reporting systems.
- Experience with cloud services and associated billing
