Join AIR as a Senior Quantitative Researcher with AIR’s Educators and Instruction (E&I) team of researchers and consultants as we work to achieve solutions to complex policy and practice problems in K-12 education. AIR’s E&I program area is seeking a Senior Quantitative Researcher with expertise in program and policy evaluation in K-12 education. The Senior Quantitative Researcher will lead and contribute to research and evaluation projects and business development activities, with a focus on teacher and leader preparation and development. The ideal candidate will have experience studying the efficacy of K-12 programs and policies, a commitment to improving equity and other outcomes in education, knowledge of programs or interventions related to educator development and instruction and experience leading research studies and tasks.
Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations.

The responsibilities for the position include:
Design and conduct rigorous quantitative analyses for education research activities, including an emphasis in causal inference methods such as randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental designs
Work on collaborative project teams for externally funded research projects and studies
Provide intellectual leadership for the conceptualization and design of education studies, including in projects and research proposals
Lead research-related tasks and projects, including managing teams and budgets
Supervise and mentor researchers and research assistants/associates as a project, task, or functional lead
Write reports, briefs, proposals, evaluation plans, and other documents that are clear, concise, thoughtful and contribute substantively to the field
Present and disseminate findings to clients, funders, education organizations, educators, and the public
Clearly communicate with clients, educators, colleagues, and other internal and external stakeholders orally and in writing and represent AIR in a professional manner
Demonstrate cultural competence and sensitivity in interactions with colleagues, external audiences, and study participants, and promote AIR’s diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in all research and business activities
Maintain excellent relationships in the field, serve as a client contact, and actively pursue business development through client relationships, partnership development, and by staying abreast of the direction of the field
Lead, write, and contribute to proposals for federal, state, foundation, and other clients and funders
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
PhD with a miniumu of 3 years of experience in a social science, education, or other related field or Master’s degree with a minimum of 7+ years of research experience will also be considered
Methodological expertise in quantitative research methods, particularly for causal impact studies
Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting quantitative data
Demonstrated interest in research focused on K–12 education policy and practice
Experience working with diverse education stakeholders and partners
Experience working in underserved schools and communities
Experience managing and contributing to research and evaluation projects, reports, and products
Track record of contributing to successful proposal and business development efforts is preferred but not required
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing
Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds and the ability to produce concise, high-level summaries and briefings accessible to broad audiences
Strong organizational skills
Fluency in Stata or R

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $118,000 – $140,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
