Associate Business Analyst

The APEI Associate IT Business Analyst is responsible for working with more senior BAs to develop a strong relationship with internal business customers. The candidate works with business customers to understand and document current processes and identify areas where processes could be improved through manual process changes / or enhancements to the system, and facilitates the implementation of those changes.

Responsibilities:

Note: All functions are performed under the guidance of a more senior business analyst staff member.

• Analyzes smaller business processes to define the functional and detailed requirements / user stories and works with the team to design specifications and an approach.
• Analyzes business practices throughout APEI and its customer organizations with the information gained used to influence process improvements.
• Understands, analyzes, interprets and documents process workflows.
• Analyzes information to include performance data, metrics, and process interdependencies to conceptualize and define operational problems.
• Participates in discovery sessions led by more senior business analysts, publishes meeting minutes, and assures all action items are completed within the timeframe set.
• Consults with business process owners to obtain additional information during system development in order to evaluate an alternative approach.
• Conducts system demonstrations and coordinates the creation of user guides.
• Prepares User Acceptance Testing (UAT) documentation and leads the user acceptance testing effort with the responsible business process owner.
• Oversees the transition to new processes and provides post production release support.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
• Six months to three years of experience working in Information Technology as an IT analyst.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to learn Visio, and MS SQL.
• Exposure to Information Technology development methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, or DevOps.
