Utilization Management Representatives are responsible for coordinating cases for precertification and prior authorization review. On this team, you will spend a large part of your day identifying appropriate health care providers for members based on requests from case managers or other team members within the preauthorization guidelines.
Location: This is a 100% remote position; successful candidates will be located in Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas or Oklahoma. Successful candidates will meet Anthem Work at Home requirements including hard-wired high speed internet and a private secure workspace.
The shift will vary based on needs of business. The shifts are: 10:00 am – 7:00 pm CST, 7:00 – 4:00 pm PST, 8:00 – 5:00 pm PST or 9:00 am – 6:00 pm CST.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for coordinating cases for precertification and prior authorization review.
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to: Responsible for providing technical guidance to UM Reps who handle correspondence and assist callers with issues concerning contract and benefit eligibility for requested continuing pre-certification and prior authorization of inpatient and outpatient services outside of initial authorized set.
Assisting management by identifying areas of improvement and expressing a willingness to take on new projects as assigned.
Handling escalated and unresolved calls from less experienced team members.
Ensuring UM Reps are directed to the appropriate resources to resolve issues.
Ability to understand and explain specific workflow, processes, departmental priorities and guidelines.
May assist in new hire training to act as eventual proxy for Ops Expert.
Qualifications
Required:
Requires a HS diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years of experience in customer service experience in healthcare related setting; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
Certain contracts require a Master’s degree.
Ability to work from home with internet access and a quiet and private work space.
Preferred:
Medical terminology training
Experience in medical or insurance field
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, facilitation skills, and analytical skills.
