This position is a member of the Central Process Technology
organization, supporting all Americas processes, located in King of
Prussia, PA.The position reports to the Project Development Manager as
part of corporate engineering and technology and does not have any
direct reports.
Key Activities & Responsibilities
Represent Arkema at Engineering, Procurement & Construction Contractor
(EPC) office as main project liaison.20%
-Answer EPC questions, consulting with Arkema team as needed and leading
responses.
-Make technical decisions at EPC on behalf of Arkema.
-Approve design output from EPC, including but not limited to:
-PFD and material balance
-P&ID
-Equipment lists and specifications
-Process and safety device calculations including dust protection
systems
-Participate in design reviews
-Own the translation of HAZOP and DHA items into design closure.
-Support development of control strategy.
Support process conceptual studies.20%
-Interface with global R&D and process technology leading to piloting
and other scale up activities, process technology development and
subsequent process engineering.
-Run pilot studies at Arkema’s facility or at vendors.
-Conduct basic engineering work and process analysis on complex plant
unit operations.
-Study process alternatives and develop preliminary economics analysis.
-Utilize process modeling software such as Aspen and interpret data to
generate solutions.
Prepare process engineering packages. 40%
-Prepare PFD’s, P&ID’s, heat and material balances, etc.
-Prepare equipment lists, specification sheets, etc. for assigned
projects.
-Use knowledge of safety regulations and environmental issues, and
incorporate them into engineering work.
-Team lead PHA and facilitate DHA Reviews.Lead action closure for HAZOP
and DHA.
Support plants.20%
-Coordinate process tests with plants and provide oversight.
-Develop and lead small capital projects and provides process support to
larger capital projects.
-Support operations. Give direction to hourly workers and hold
accountable for results.
-Assist operations as needed during deviations; use analysis skills for
troubleshooting, turnaround support, etc.
-Will assume the role of team leader or subject matter expert as needed
and may establish priorities for employees or teams.
Context
Will require domestic and occasional international travel (25%).
Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and
internal requirements
Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema
Inc.(e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety,
environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
Required Education/Qualifications/Work Experience
Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
Higher degree candidates (MS ChE) as well as higher experience level
candidates will be able to provide higher value in this role.
Additional certifications, such as lean six sigma are preferred.
More than10years industrial or relatedexperience in multiple process
engineering/technology roles and/or businesses is required.
Experience in supporting process safety activities at a site is
preferred.

technology at multiple sites.Expert in internal methods and tools.Able

compliance items.Conducts effective cause analysis and gap closure.
PHA leader or facilitator.SME for safety critical safeguard
calculations.Good understanding of PSM and RMP overall program.
Leads efforts to develop and analyzeoptions in a capital project by
assessing all considerations (technical, financial, safety,
environmental). Well-versed in stage gate and coaches less experienced
engineers to use the methodology.
Actively networks and consults within and outside business unit or
support function.Actively participates in corporate initiatives.Work

director level.
Has internal and external networks. (e.g. AICHE, CCPS, etc.). Mentors
less experienced engineers outside of business unit.

Proficient in multiplemanufacturing digital tools.Mentors others.
Application of multiple manufacturing digital tools, simulation, control
and databases at plant level with tangible results.Keeps current with
digital developments, leads a digital portfolio and mentors others.
Is recognized within the site/department as a skilled applier of
engineering and technology.
