Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Public Administration, Engineering, or in a field related to the job, plus seven (7) years related experience, two (2) years of which were in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.

Seeking a visionary, innovative, proven leader of high performing teams to build upon Austin Energy’s industry leading customer offerings and execution. The successful applicant will have a deep technical understanding of distributed energy resource program design, cost effectiveness metrics, customer engagement best practices, operational excellence and the ability to communicate effectively with elected officials, citizen commissions, C-suite executives and other City departments. This position manages the largest portion of the Customer Energy Solutions Business Unit called Energy Efficiency Solutions. This position oversees the vast majority of programs and services in Customer Energy Solutions, including to Residential, Commercial and Industrial sectors. This position oversees multiple energy efficiency and demand response programs. This position supervises a staff of 57 full-time employees and contractors, with four direct reports. This position manages a budget of $25M in incentives / rebates across multiple programs. This position oversees and interacts with multiple teams of contractors and vendors in order to successfully deliver the programs.

Pay Range
$58.72 – $77.80

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
May occasionally work evenings, weekends or holiday. Hours may change based on business needs.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
Technical knowledge of demand side management programs including measurement and verification of efficacy.
Ability to respond succinctly and effectively to time-sensitive deadlines.
Skill in establishing and maintaining relationships with and presenting to contractors, citizen commissions, elected officials, stakeholders, the general public and staff.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Plans, directs, and coordinates the development and delivery of a range of technical program services to improve energy efficiency in new and existing residential, commercial and industrial building.
Directs and manages the performance of energy audits and engineering feasibility studies; reviews and evaluates recommendations of building design reviews and studies, and cost-effectiveness comparisons of end-use technologies.
Manages annual O&M, CIP and incentive budgets including preparing short and long-term spending plans.
Prepares and presents annual results-of-operations reports for Austin Energy management and public advisory committees.
Manages promotional and outreach efforts to establish partnerships with contractors, vendors and trade allies to enhance customer services and participation to meet Austin Energy’s energy efficiency goals.
Formulates specific plan objectives to achieve desirable electric load shape changes through energy efficiency and load management programs and projects.
Directs technical and planning process elements for evaluating alternative energy efficiency program initiatives.
