Avetta, LLC Hiring for Senior Software Engineer Job at Sydney, Australia Full Time

Avetta’s Senior Software Engineer will be part of a team that helps design and develop software solutions within an overall enterprise system. This person will work closely with their manager and stakeholders to develop systems according to defined requirements and deadlines while maintaining high quality, bug-free code. They must be at ease working in an agile environment with little supervision. This person should have a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development. This person will lead others in small project teams, guiding design and development strategies while mentoring peers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform analysis of requirements to produce estimates, design documents, metrics, flowcharts or other supporting documentation for proposed solutions.
• Transform requirements and proposed solutions into clean, readable, high-quality code.
• Learn and abide by all coding standards and security policies to avoid bugs and security holes.
• Follow established software development lifecycle while performing above duties.
• Work with software architects, product managers and experts in verifying that identified solutions and designs meet the requirements’ goals as well as the system architecture design.
• Work closely with peer reviewers to have frequent code reviews.
• Perform frequent code reviews of junior and other peers.
• Work closely with QA to make sure all testing scenarios are covered by QA and as much automation as possible is included in unit tests and other automated tests maintained by QA.
• Stay up-to-date on all relevant technologies and make suggestions to managers and architects as needed.
• Protect the code base from poor code that could have a detrimental effect on the system (e.g. security, performance, readability). This should be accomplished through code and security reviews, gathering load and performance metrics, and working closely with QA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent experience.
• Ten or more years professional experience working with contemporary web development languages (Java, C#, JavaScript) and database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle, mongoDB, mySQL)
• Five or more years as lead of various software projects and small teams.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase.
• Outstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

• Competence with RESTful Web Services
• Competence in unit testing frameworks
• Competence in integration and other automated test frameworks
