We are looking for a full time qualified and experienced Therapist / Project Worker 3 to work in our NW Mental Health and Trauma Service Delivery Platform. (NWMH&T Services) The platform is expanding rapidly and we require a Peripatetic Worker to meet the growing demand for our services, particularly in relation to training and the provision of therapeutic support to our Specialist Fostering Placements.
We provide therapeutic packages of support to specialist fostering placements that can include direct support to the foster carers and/ or the foster children and young people. Many of the presenting issues such as self-harm, poor self-esteem, attachment difficulties and challenging behaviour can test the stability of a placement.
The post holder will provide support to supervising social workers and carers as well as offering therapy to children and young people. Therapeutic work is usually provided for at least six months.
This post will involve some training delivery across the North Region to the Barnardo’s workforce and external customers. This training is aimed at increasing professionals understanding and ability to respond to the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people.
The North Region covers the whole of the North of England, therefore when training is being delivered, considerable travel will be required with occasional overnight stays.
In addition to the provision of therapeutic support to foster placements and the delivery of training, the post holder may at times be asked to provide back fill in some of our existing local services: this may be because a therapist is absent due to sickness or because of the need for a specific modality. Any backfill will be for full courses of therapy rather than simply covering someone else’s session with a child.
Essential criteria
In additional to the criteria listed on the Person Profile the post holder must:
It is desirable for the post holder to be qualified to deliver ASIST- Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training and Mental Health First Aid.
When completing your application please refer to your skills knowledge and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.
Barnardo’s offers a hybrid working model covered under our `Work from Anywhere’ Framework, therefore vacancies advertised with this as an opportunity are open for applicants to either work from home or any location within the UK, including Barnardo’s Hub/Office that is a reasonable distance from your home address.
Barnardo’s believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work-life balance; we are therefore open to offering flexible working arrangements.
