Newsround is the UK’s only integrated daily news service for children. With bulletins every day, and a comprehensive online service, we deliver news to 6-12 year olds in an engaging and innovative way.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will use excellent editorial judgement to create a variety of news-related content for Newsround’s different platforms, including TV and online. This includes editing packages for the daily live TV bulletin, writing short and long-form news stories for online, shooting and editing, plus creating guides, explainers and content for social media and YouTube.

Are you the right candidate?

• You will be a Journalist who has the ability to develop fresh, new creative treatments for news stories and topical events.
• Be able to work to tight deadlines creating packages for a live TV news programme
• You will have experience of writing content for a daily news website
• You will have experience of shooting and editing
• You’ll have an understanding of, and passion for, creating news content for Newsround’s young and diverse audiences across different platforms
• Experience of creating compelling content for social media
• You will have a working knowledge of optimising your digital content for search (SEO)
• This role requires a relevant DBS check to be undertaken by the BBC at the appropriate level, at the point of offer of a contract of employment.
