Associate Director of Distribution has full responsibility (Profit and Loss, personnel, and facility) for the designated distribution center within North America. This role manages the establishment and administration of a defined set of procedures, requirements, goals and key initiatives while focused on metric and financial performance. Collaborates directly with senior leadership on the development of strategies to enhance the value and cost-effectiveness of all outcomes within the functional areas of the operation and participates in overall decision making as a member of the senior management team of the enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages and/or provides day to day leadership for various operational and administrative personnel engaged in specific project activities using principles outlined in the BD Way and People Manager expectations.
Plans and oversees strategic, operational, and administrative programs, projects and/or services of broad significance to the organization within the designated functional areas of focus.
Establishes and implements short and long range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies and operating procedures.
Provides strategic advice and recommendations to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of new or modified operating policies, practices and procedures within the distribution environment.
Manages and/or provides day to day leadership to various operational and administrative personnel engaged in specific project activities.
Assesses the level of talent in key positions and implement development and mentoring activities to promote organizational growth. Drive robust development plans that drive succession plans.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (GMP, CBP, OSHA, DOT, ISO, etc.) in all areas of responsibility.
Create engagement and positive work environment for the leadership team and associates within the areas of responsibility.
Drive continuous improvement culture through CAPEX investments and focus on process change. Lead GNOS recommended strategies
Direct influence on the next level of leadership down at DC location to drive continuous improvement for the NA Distribution key driver goals encompassing customer, quality, people, and cost.
Accountable for achieving budgeted financials at the distribution center.
Attracting and developing the leadership levels at all responsible sites and driving robust succession plans.
Achieving the site budgeted cost per case/line shipped and achieving site budgeted distribution center expense as a percent of sales. Achieving and exceeding budgeted targets ensures Distribution Centers are income accretive to commercial business units. Ensuring shipments are filled and shipped on time driving consistent customer satisfaction
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 15 plus years of equivalent experience. Graduate degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience within distribution, transportation, and customs compliance.
Minimum of 15 years of direct P/L experience
Minimum of 10 years in general managerial equivalent roles
Warehousing experience in a regulated environment.
Distribution, inventory, and lifecycle management required.
Experience in ERP integration and implementation
Competencies:
Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.
Working knowledge and understanding of the principles and processes of computerized business and operating systems.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Knowledge and understanding of integrated program planning, development, and administration within a public institution environment.
