BIAZA Hiring for Animal Keeper and Animal Keeper (Education Lead) Job at South East England , UK Full Time

We are currently looking to fill two vacancies one for an animal keeper and one for an education keeper for the zoo. Please indicate which position you are applying for in your application.

Hanwell Zoo is a small vibrant zoo in Ealing, West London. We are looking to recruit a new member to our highly successful team.

The zoo plays a key role in the local community and houses a number of exotic mammal and bird species.

We are looking for an individual with practical experience in a zoo setting to assist in the daily care ,husbandry of the animal collection at Hanwell Zoo as well as developing the education programme.

The successful candidate will have a relevant animal husbandry qualification or previous experience of working in a zoo environment.

The development of the animal collection and the education provision we provide has been key to the success of the zoo.

The successful candidate would be expected to fulfil:

All aspects of animal husbandry on a daily basis.

Preparation of approved diets.

The carrying out of correct feeding procedures.

Outstanding observational skills with excellent attention to detail

Be able to organise and prioritise tasks in a dynamic environment and have good problem solving skills

Be willing to assist with other areas of the park, including working in the zoo’s retail space, general maintenance, presentations, working with volunteer groups and upkeep of public areas,

Have a good understanding of risk assessments and working with safe working practices

Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
