We’re looking for a talented Automation Tester to join our Customer, Onboarding and Identity product team in Wellington. The team own BNZ’s Enterprise Customer API’s and are responsible for creating safe and simple services for the wider Enterprise. We work closely with other product teams to collaboratively design and develop compelling API products, whilst radically simplifying and transforming our application ecosystem.

We enable BNZ product teams to create exceptional staff and customer banking experiences, as well as support some of BNZ’s key business applications across a diverse range of technologies.

You’ll assist agile teams to deliver quality working software on a frequent basis to enhance the bank’s competitive advantage.

Day to Day you will be:

• Thinking critically and laterally about test design, mitigating project risks through an appropriate test approach, and exploring the application to expose vulnerabilities beyond the business requirements.
• Working with developers to create appropriate automated checks using existing tools.
• Working with their agile team to develop a common understanding of the business requirements, and understanding underlying business intent, business procedures and systems.
• Clearly communicating defects to the business and their agile team.
• Contributing to a shared focus on user experience.
• Participating in agile ceremonies including stand up, retrospective, planning and demonstration. Undertaking non-testing related activities to assist the team to deliver on its commitments.

Ō Pūkenga | About you

You’ll be a team player who has excellent communication skills and innovative box thinking to overcome testing challenges (Test Data, Test Environment). You will also bring:

Essential:

• 3+ years experience with creating and maintaining automation frameworks with good quality test code
• Front-End automation testing frameworks: Javascript, Cypress, Mocha
• Back-End API automation testing frameworks: Java, Spring, RestAssured; BDD (Concordian or Cucumber), API stubbing (Wiremock)
• Source control: Git or other
• Worked in Agile Teams

Nice to have:

• White-box testing (code level), debugging
• Manual API testing: Postman, SoapUI
• Manual UI testing – functional, cross-browser
• CI/CD work environment, Jenkins – creating/maintaining pipelines
• SQL, Oracle Databases
• Performance testing tools: JMeter
• Other languages such as Python or Perl.
• Working within cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code
• Release change management/implementation lead experience
• DevOps experience (or at least a strong interest/desire to learn)
• Technical requirement analysis and documentation
• Production monitoring, incident triage and investigation
• Docker
• Jira
