Position Overview
The Food Safety Coordinator maintains records critical for the Quality Systems, Food Safety Plans and SQF Programs. This position assists with verifying that programs are being executed properly through sampling, analysis, and reporting of testing results. The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the laboratory and provides back-up for the FSQ Supervisor.
Accountabilities
Review and maintain the routine paperwork/records related to the Quality, Regulatory, SPC,
Food Safety Plan, Sanitation, SQF Audit, and customer specific documentation.
Manage Red Zone software, create and revise data sheets, review records, and be a resource to team members for use and training.
Manage Customer Complaints. Monitor and communicate trends and perform root cause investigation, drive corrective action and document response.
Oversee the Laboratory, ensuring Good Laboratory Practices, organization, cleanliness, and temperature requirements of equipment are met.
Maintain laboratory inventory and order department materials.
Oversee and perform the requirements of the Calibration Program. This includes the scheduling, shipping when applicable, tracking of due dates, and collection and storage of calibration records for all applicable equipment.
Perform environmental swabbing, air sampling, water sampling, sample preparation, sample shipment, and data (test results) entry. Determine when corrective action is needed and perform root cause analysis and corrective action for test results outside target ranges. Communicate test results outside target to FSQ Supervisors and Manager and the proposal for resolution/retesting.
Participate in Environmental Walks as needed.
Prepare and submit the Sample Submission forms as needed.
Manage the thermometer, knife, mirror, and flashlight programs.
Manage the Hygiena meter plan programming, tracking, training, and oversight.
Perform COA review of ingredients and labels and release ingredients in SAP.
Create COAs for finished products and send to the customers requiring them.
Perform Hold and Release of Finished product in SAP.
Perform Work Order entry into SAP.
Perform label verifications of new labels upon receipt.
Prepare, program, and download datalogger information and provide reports to the requesting body.
Prepare and submit USDA notification, review of records and release of USDA products.
Perform data entry: glass audit information, sanitation re-clean information, foreign material incidents, product leaker information, and trending report information.
Manage cooler/freezer data download and review.
Participate in new employee orientation.
Perform training and participate in competency assessment for plant employees when needed.
Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
Provide back-up for FSQ Leads and Technicians. Provide back-up for the Laboratory Technician. Provide back-up for the FSQ Supervisor as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree or 3-5 years of experience with similar job responsibilities
Solid computer skills (MS Office, Word, Power Point and Excel)
Skill for recognition of new opportunities and problem solving
Ability to work in a multi-task, deadline-oriented environment
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Must be willing to work flexible hours and shifts
