Providing excellent administrative support

The Office of Regulation and Compliance is responsible for the day-to-day administration of regulatory and compliance matters relating to university students. You will play a key role as the team’s Administrative Officer, providing professional administrative advice, direction, and input across a range of activities relating to areas. including: Mitigating or Extenuating Circumstances, Academic Appeals, and the Office of the Independent Adjudicator; as well as Academic Misconduct, such as plagiarism and collusion.

What you’ll be doing

• Managing a shared mailbox and answering queries from students and business units regarding regulatory and compliance matters.
• Managing the effective data collection and reporting procedures.
• Providing an effective customer focused service always adhering to the University regulations.
• Maintaining an understanding of regulatory policies and procedures and disseminating this information to students and key stakeholders.
• Ensuring effective workflow activity to meet targets and specified deadlines.
• Identifying improvements in policies and procedures to contribute to continuous operational improvement
• Participating in operational planning meetings as well as conferences, courses, and network opportunities applicable to the role to share best practice and deputise for the Joint Heads of Regulation and Compliance when requested
• Supporting the Office of Regulation and Compliance with other administrative tasks when required.

This role will be on a hybrid contract with the office base being Birmingham.

• Degree qualified and experience in a similar or related role(s) relating to regulation and/or compliance. OR Proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of this area of work
• Proven analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Sensitivity to difficult and challenging circumstances including maintaining confidentiality and
• discretion under the Data Protection Act.
• Proven communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage own workload.
• Ability to deliver key objectives within challenging timeframes.
• Clear understanding of the regulations set for the conduct and output of the role is a huge plus
• Knowledge and understanding of the work practices, processes, and procedures relevant to the role, which may include broader sector/commercial awareness.
