The successful Autonomous/ADAS Systems Engineer will
Create system architecture for current and future roadmap products
Create, guide and oversee the system architecture for autonomous/Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) systems in the marine environment.
Create and track system requirements and translate them into system requirements for software, hardware, communication and connected systems
Evaluate and determine autonomy/ADAS system components
Key responsibilities
Develop/guide the creation of architectures to meet technical, safety and user requirements
Guide hardware, software, sensing and communication decisions for system components based off of requirements
Drive the systems engineering approach from the Enterprise across divisions to create a cohesive autonomy architecture.
Define protocols and frameworks to integrate new and existing components into the autonomy/ADAS system.
Guide the integration of autonomous systems into existing vessel architectures
Working with all stakeholders define the autonomous/ADAS solutions roadmaps using platforming / common architecture / common solution principles
Ensure rapid learning / adaptable solutions and processes across the organization
Required Experience/Skills
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, robotics, computer science or related engineering field
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in complex control systems with 3+ years in autonouous, ADAS, or robotic systems engineering
Experience with product development in autonomous and ADAS systems
Experience with regulations such as SOTIF, ISO26262 and UL4600
Strong software, hardware, and connected systems background
Strong communications skills, verbally and written.
Preferred Experience/Skills
MS degree in electrical, mechanical, robotics, computer science or related engineering field
Experience with requirements tracking tools such as Polarian, Doors etc
Experience with control systems and simulation tools related to ADAS
Experience with autonomous toolchains such as ROS 1, ROS 2, Yolo, and Linux OS devices
Experience in the marine environment
This position will be based out of the Brunswick i-Jet Lab in Research Park on the UIUC (University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign) campus or Brunswick headquarters in Mettawa IL
