Organizational Summary:
OrchKids is a year-round, during and after school, music program designed to create social change and nurture promising futures for youth in Baltimore City neighborhoods. Under Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Music Director/OrchKids Founding Director, Marin Alsop’s artistic leadership and direction, OrchKids is the cornerstone of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s community engagement efforts across the city. Founded in 2008 with 30 students at one elementary school – with seed funding from Marin Alsop and Founding Donors Rheda Becker and Robert E. Meyerhoff, OrchKids now works with nine public schools in Baltimore City, serving children from Pre-K through 12th grade.
In collaboration with several community partners, including Baltimore City Public Schools, OrchKids provides music education, instruments, academic instruction, meals, as well as performance and mentorship opportunities at no cost to students and families. OrchKids is an acknowledged leader in the El Sistema-inspired and social-change through music movement throughout the world and serves as a replicable model for other cities.
Job Summary:
Administrative Coordinator is an essential member of the OrchKids team and will support development initiatives, financial tracking/processing, office and program operations, marketing, and public relations efforts as well as general administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the tracking and processing of payroll, invoices, guest artist contracts, corporate credit card, etc.
Coordinate all logistics for the OrchKids volunteer program
Support OrchKids Director of Development in external communications with funders (Individual, Foundation and Corporate) as needed (i.e. solicitation mailings, acknowledgment letters, email blasts, etc.)
Coordinate the OrchKids marketing calendar (website, social media, newsletter, etc.)
Coordinate creation and distribution of OrchKids newsletter, OrchKids “one pager” summary and other materials as needed
Work closely with the OrchKids team to keep OrchKids Operations/Planning calendar current
General office management (ordering supplies, general administrative tasks, note taking at meetings, creating meeting agendas, meeting invitations, IT requests, ID badges and office keys, etc.)
Track background checks for all staff and teachers
Other duties as assigned

Requirement and Qualifications:
Background in arts management or non-profit management a plus
Passion for the mission of using music as a vehicle of social change
Demonstrated effective planning and organizational skills, able to meet deadlines consistently in a timely manner
Personal leadership through example coupled with ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results-driven, team-oriented environment
Ability to multi-task calmly and to handle emergencies effectively
Effective interpersonal skills
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Strong people skills, and the ability to maintain tact, diplomacy and the strictest confidence as needed
Completion of a successful background check
Drivers license and car
Availability for night and weekend events
