Bt Mining Limited Looking for Graduate Mining Geologist at Maramarua, Waikato Full Time

We are looking for graduates in geology, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, mining engineering or surveying to join our Graduate Programme at our Maramarua mine site.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Technical Services Superintendent at Maramarua, you will provide technical support to the mining operations and working and learning alongside a team of experienced mining personnel

The work includes assisting in:

• Geological and geotechnical mapping and interpretation
• Trenching and core logging
• Coal sampling, basic mine design and planning
• Survey work including operation of drones and reporting
• A large proportion of the work is field based

About you:

• University Bachelor’s Degree (or Higher)
• A high level of general computer skills
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to health and safety
• Ability to work independently
• Intermediate expertise in database use
• Full drivers’ licence

About Us

Bathurst Resources is New Zealand’s largest specialist coal mine company. We produced over 1.8 million tonnes of coal last year and proudly employ over 550 people.  About 80 percent of our production is used for steel making of which one third is used by a local Kiwi steel mill. Our Maramarua Mine is an opencast mine located in the Waikato region 30km south of Auckland and produces a low-ash, low sulphur thermal coal for the domestic market.
