Education Safeguarding Officer
NJC Grade 8
Part Time, 18.5 hours (50%)
Fixed term for 1 year due to funding.
Safeguarding is a key priority for the Council and we are committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to minimise the risk of harm to children. As the safeguarding officer in education you will hold a pivotal role in ensuring the LA complies with its statutory duties, working closely with colleagues, schools and education providers.
The post holder will work closely with the Council’s Lead Officer and Coordinator for Safeguarding in Education and will be required to support and monitor safeguarding practice across schools and education settings to ensure compliance with statutory responsibility.
You will have extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and national priorities as well as the key changes in education; you will support with the delivery of training to Heads/DSP’s/Governors to ensure safeguarding knowledge and practices are robust. Working collaboratively with other key agencies and stakeholders, often in challenging situations, will be essential, building on the existing excellent working relationships.
You will join a friendly and supportive team within Learning Education and Inclusion, where there is a strong focus on wellbeing.
The post is Fixed Term for 12 months.
