As a key contributor to the Software Process and Productivity team, the SOpX Engineer will audit, monitor and evaluate SW development projects to ensure the work performed meets the defined SW Development Plan and organizational standards. When deviations from standards are identified, the SOpX Engineer works closely with the software teams to address issues. The SOpX Engineer will regularly provide feedback on quality activities to the Tactical Communications Software Engineering functional lead.
Evaluates process performance through internal reviews of work products developed by the SW project team(s)
Performs quality assurance related activities in a software development environment on multiple projects
Actively identifies improvement opportunities to the SW Development Process and over-arching Quality Management System
Develops and analyzes SW quality metrics
Assists teams with adherence to the software development process
Analyzes, monitors, evaluates and reports on process status and compliance
Effectively gains cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures
Interfaces with Engineering, Program Management and customers to ensure project execution is compliant to contractual requirements
Leads the preparation for CMMI appraisals
Contributes to successfully achieving organizational goals and operating plans
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Experience as a Software Development Engineer or Software Project Manager
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Software Quality Assurance (SQA) in a software development environment.
Experience with the CMMI v2.0 model
Effective audit and investigative techniques.
Strong organizational and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to proactively take initiative and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Working knowledge and experience in effective quality methods.
Strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of software development and project management activities
