Billing Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY: Billing Specialist needed to support rapidly growing group psychotherapy practice.

SALARY RANGE: $25/hr
SALARY DETAILS: Full-Time (Averaging 30-40 hours/week)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Complete billing tasks: submit claims to insurance payer sources, verify eligibility/benefits/coverage when necessary, run client payments, and follow up on denied claims.

Maintain Electronic Health Record: review billing component of client charts to ensure accuracy, work with Practice Manager to perform period chart audits.

Be available for both client and staff billing questions and concerns.

Maintain each client’s HIPAA rights, and other protections of confidentiality and privacy.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Proficiency with Google Suite. Intermediate understanding of computer language and functionality.

Able to grow proficiency in electronic health record systems, and billing.

Solid organizational skills and high attention to detail.

Communicate in an encouraging and professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to think critically through situations. Ability to resolve problems efficiently.

Ability to work independently.

Must be able to work well with clients who suffer from mental illness. Must be able to work with a diverse population and demonstrate cultural competence.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to sit, bend and reach, stand, operate typical office equipment including but not limited to phone, computer, facsimile, and copier/printer/scanner.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computer, smart phone

EDUCATION: Associate’s Degree or equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years Medical Billing experience preferred. Mental health and/or human services background preferred.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
