Process Control Technician
Chemours is seeking a(n) Process Control Technician to join our growing Maintenance team! This position will report directly to the Electrical & Reliability Engineer in our Starke, FL location.
JOB SUMMARY
The Process Control Technician is responsible for maintaining an efficient computer-based process control system, and promoting and optimizing its use through ongoing development. The role is also responsible for maintaining, adjusting and repairing instrumentation equipment.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
As a priority maintain EHS critical programming and instrumentation.
Identify issues causing down time events. Initiate appropriate actions to maximize plant availability and minimize issues by enlisting support services from within and outside the department.
Contribute to improvements in processing plant efficiencies through plant process improvements, day to day troubleshooting and long-term problem solving with the installed process control system.
Supports ongoing technical advances in the process control system by staying up to date with latest technology and developments with respect to process control.
Support maintenance planner in the preventative maintenance program for instrumentation equipment.
Maintain calibration performance and records for instrumentation.
Support process control and instrumentation requirements of plant upgrades.
Work with site-based Electricians in the fault finding of instruments and repair / replace as required.
Retain the integrity of the process control system through the maintenance of up to date image copies of the database and performs system maintenance checks and run time repairs.
Maintain process control system hardware and spares.
Improve system familiarity for relevant operations and maintenance personnel through the provision of training.
Improve faultfinding and understanding by fully documenting the system software.
Document completed work in SAP Work Management Process.
In order to be qualified for this role, you /must possess/ the following:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED and industry experience with relevant certifications.
Diploma or certificate in Programmable Logic Control (PLC) combined with industry experience.
At least 3 years of operational experience in a processing plant.
Knowledge and experience working with the SCADA (system control and data acquisition) systems and IP21.
Knowledge of SQL (stand query language) databases, telemetry systems, automatic process control techniques and fiber optic and ethernet networks.
Computer hardware skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.
A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
The following is /preferred/ for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Electrical certificate.
