Shift also includesweekend rotation and approximately two holidays per year.Job OverviewUnder the supervision and direction of a licensed pharmacist and followingestablished policies and procedures, performs a variety of technicalprocedures to support hospital pharmacy operations.Fast-paced inpatient pharmacy environment. Core responsibilities of this roleinclude:Non-sterile and sterile compounding.Pharmaceutical math calculation proficiency.Transporting prescriptions and pharmacy equipment (for example, IV’s,injectables, etc) to clinics or nursing floors.Answer, screen, and triage phone calls.Help in training new pharmacy technicians.Help other technicians in the pharmacy.Repackage bulk medication stock into individually packaged units.Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by the hospitalpharmacist or pharmacy leadership.Communication and collaboration skills.ResponsibilitiesPOPULATION SPECIFIC CARENeonate – 30 days to 1yrToddlers – >1yr to 3yrsPre-Schoolers – >3yrs to 5yrsSchool age – >5yrs to 13yrsAdolescent – >13yrs to 18yrsAdult – >18yrs to 65yrsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAn employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of thefollowing essential functions. These examples do not include all of thefunctions which the employee may be expected to perform.Accurately and safely selects and prepares medications for dispensing, anddelivers patient medication as directed by a licensed pharmacist.Performs non-sterile compounding and packaging including nonhazardous andhazardous drugs.Answers telephone calls and triages appropriately.Performs inspections for medication outdates.Assures medication needs for patient care are met through inventorymanagement, maintenance of work areas and equipment, stocking Omnicells,receiving and stocking medications and supplies throughout the pharmacy areas.Maintains environmental cleanliness in accordance with regulatory and policyrequirements.Fills requests for controlled substances and accurately maintains all requiredrecords.Enters patient charges.Teaches, trains and/or mentors new employees, students and otherhealthcare professionals according to standard operating procedures.Maintains daily workflow to meet established priorities and productionrequirements.Documents activities according to hospital and department policy, and inaccordance with regulatory requirements.Sustains quality and safety initiatives and practices in the department andthroughout the hospital.
