General Summary

This position will focus on securing new business and maintaining current business with Chr. Hansen key accounts with regional geography. Products supported could include all those with any of Chr. Hansen’s Animal Health portfolio for cattle, swine, poultry, and silage.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

• • Responsible for maintaining existing business with key accounts.

• • Responsible for developing new business with strategic target accounts with the geographic area of responsibility.

• • Implements the US AH&N Business Unit strategies as it relates to Chr. Hansen’s animal health portfolio.

• • Maintains in-depth high-level contacts with key end users and influencers, keeping them informed of price trends, new products and applications.

• Investigates customer complaints and solves routine industry problems on site. This includes, but is not limited to, new product applications, marketing efforts, new facilities, price trends, and key industry personnel.

• Meets or exceeds sales budget targets on a year-to-year basis.

• Provides timely sales forecasts, reports and information as required.

• Reports to work on time and works overtime as required and if required to travel for business: maintains a valid driver’s license and good personal credit, making the Account Manager eligible for a credit card.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Possess good negotiation and follow-up skills.

• Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals.

• Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers.

• Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.

• Must have a passion for the food industry.

• Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.

• Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.

• Ability to travel up to 40% of working time.

• These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, food technology or chemistry preferred, and a minimum of five to seven years of sales experience in the feed industry and/or feed additive industry with focus on swine and/or poultry.

Working Conditions

Working environment is a home office setting about 20% of time and car travel about 80% of time (this could vary depending on territory). This position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
