Our libraries could not operate without our brilliant team of Library Assistants. We’re looking for enthusiastic people who give great customer service. Your ability to find a way to help all sorts of people will enable you to promote reading and literacy, while your technological savvy will open up a world of digital information and inspiration to our customers. You will also work in ways that uphold the Treaty of Waitangi and demonstrates an understanding of how to be a good treaty partner.
The variety of challenges, interactions and tasks will give plenty of opportunity for you to display your resilience, whanaungatanga, adaptability, energy, māramatanga, initiative and love of learning. It’s a busy and physically active role which will keep you moving. Our comprehensive training will set you up to succeed whether you decide to stay as a Library Assistant or to aim for other roles within the Council.

We are expecting additional vacancies in other locations, so if you are interested in becoming a Library Assistant at any of the libraries in our network, we encourage you to apply in this round.
If your application is progressed, you would need to be available to attend an Assessment Centre on either Tuesday 21st February or Wednesday 22nd February.

Salary – $23.10 to $25.09 per hour
