The Operational Risk Identification Specialist will have the unique ability to develop a framework to identify, assess, manage and report on Emerging Operational Risk and Operational Risk Concentrations across GCB. This role requires the capability to analyze the potential impacts on assets that are critical to the business. This will be accomplished predominantly by engaging key business and risk stakeholders and participants to support identification of these risks through normal business routines as well as through key governance forums. Being able to guide the business in identifying potential single points of failures in business processes, technology or people will be crucial. Understanding and maintaining a network for intelligence information related to new industry trends, policy and regulatory changes, and technology factors will be critical to the success of this role. In addition, this role will help drive execution of the GCB Risk Appetite Assessment requirements, including supporting the business in completing Risk Appetite Assessments for all Operational Risk categories.
This role will be primarily responsible for guiding and leading functional and business owners in identifying and articulating emerging and concentration risks. In addition, the position requires supporting category owners in the completion of Risk Appetite Assessments. This person will require significant cross discipline collaboration with other groups internally and externally and will demand a candidate that can think laterally, understand emerging themes and anticipate issues before they arise. This individual will also need to be persuasive and articulate to bring the stakeholders together around an agreed approach. Familiarity with the impacts of climate risk, artificial intelligence and machine learning, emerging technologies, market innovation and environmental, social and governance factors are important. This position will be part of a Global Operational Risk Capabilities (ORC) Team supporting GCB partners located in APAC/EMEA, NAM, and Mexico. This team operates in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Reporting to the GCB Key Operational Risk Officer, this individual will be responsible for providing governance and oversight of the Operational Risk Framework, executing on the requirements for the Global Consumer Bank across all regions.
Be a key member of the CBORC Operational Risk Capabilities team, within the CBORC Risk Capabilities organization, to execute and report on Operational Risk Framework components such as Risk Identification, Monitoring, Measurement and Risk Control requirements across GCB Products, Functions and Regions.
Develop and implement an Emerging and Concentration Risk Governance Framework in line with policy, standard and procedural requirements
Integrate these requirements into existing strategic efforts such as the New Product Approval Process, Risk Governance Framework activities, Major system transformations, Legal activities, etc.
Identify effective and efficient data sources for identifying emerging and concentration risks
Work with relevant GCB leadership and functional experts to design and implement a target state for anticipating and responding to emerging and concentration risks
Conduct the timely analysis of emerging threats and articulate GCB’s position, working with others to influence key management actions, forecast threat trajectories and provide leaders with nuanced and cross product threat pictures
Implement a Risk Response and early Mitigation Strategy once an Emerging Risk has been identified
When Concentration Risks are identified, align to an existing Key Risk Drivers or create a new driver and metrics to monitor and develop trending
Capture management actions and develop monitoring and measurements for Emerging and Concentration Risks
Incorporate Emerging and Concentration Risks into the quarterly KOR Refresh, Risk Appetite Assessments, Scenario Analysis and MCA processes, ensuring that ranking and prioritizing of Emerging Risk occurs as required by Policy
Present Management Actions, Monitoring, Measurements and Risk Controls as part of the effective Independent Challenge executed by 2nd LOD
Prepare Executive and Senior Leadership Reporting for use in the GCB Risk Committee, BRCC or other equivalent forums
Design clear and concise guidance documents following a “one-page” approach that will provide quick reference and ease of use on Emerging and Concentration Risks
Serve as GCB Operational Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Coordinate completion of quarterly Risk Appetite Assessments for all Operational Risk categories
