City of Lancaster Hiring for Specialist I-Public Safety at Lancaster, CA Full Time

Position : Specialist I

Salary Range: $62,870.64- $83,827.62

FSLA: Exempt

General Summary:

Under supervision of manager, performs a variety of responsible technical, administrative and paraprofessional duties in support of the department operation or assigned project; oversight of City safety and security services

Typical tasks:

• Oversight and supervision of park rangers and security staff
• Develop and update related policies and procedures
• Assist in hiring and onboarding of security and park ranger staff
• Working with training manager, oversight of security / ranger training programs
• Manage security and park ranger staffing schedules
• Ensures the teams follows security and privacy laws and standards
• Attend City park management / staff meetings regarding safety and quality of life issues at parks
• Ensure park rangers regularly communicate and work closely with park staff
• Provide public safety management with monthly security and safety report on parks and other City owned locations
• Attend various association meetings (i.e. Destination Lancaster, Blvd Association, etc.) and coordinate with membership regarding safety and security concerns
• Perform various office and administrative support, including preparing various office correspondence, reports and statistics
• At direction of manager, respond to community complaints
• Coordinates logistics for a variety of processes, activities and meetings
• Participate in conducting community surveys and responds to related reports

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One (2) years of experience working in security or related field; supervision experience preferred
• Valid class “C” drivers
