Coast Mental Health Hiring For Senior Building Operator (Permanent, Full Time) at Langley, BC Full Time

Job Summary
Coast Mental Health is looking to add a enthusiastic and dedicated individual to our properties team. This position provides meaningful work that makes a difference daily to the people we serve. Under the direction of the Facilities / Properties Manager or designate, this position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning duties and as well as interior and exterior maintenance as assigned Coast properties in accordance with the mission, objectives and principles
of the Coast Foundation Society and the properties division.

Hours of Work
Monday – Friday: 07:00 – 15:00 hrs

Typical Duties

• Coordinate the daily work assignments to the staff including: scheduling within established guidelines.
• Performs administrative functions such as scheduling, timesheets, petty cash, purchase orders and confirmation of deliveries; review and manage daily logs, provide notice to tenants and programming staff; coordinate with Properties admin to assign maintenance requests and ensure timely completion of same.
• Responsible for checking and restocking housekeeping supplies and ensuring adherence to WHMIS guidelines.
• Assisting the Properties Manager in coordinating the work of outside contractors.
• Organizing the suite cleaning and preparation of suites for timely tenant occupancy.
• Assist plumber/handyman when required with their duties.
• Coordinate with contractors by orienting them to Coast, ensuring quality and scope of work is complete, providing access to suites / Coast buildings.
• Facilitating access to the properties and assist where necessary all trades and services plus Statutory Officials such as Fire
• Inspectors, Police and Boiler Inspectors.
• Direct staff, volunteers and students with daily work assignments based on operational needs.
• Perform the duties of the building operator as assigned.
• Provide input to Managers in preparing annual plans for:
• Cleaning and maintenance routines (internal and external).
• Servicing of equipment and vehicles.
• Emergency preparedness.
• Landscaping and grounds maintenance.
• Fire drills.

Must be able to be on-call

Required Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent, a Certificate in Building Service/Cleaning from a recognized college or equivalent combination of education, training and minimum 4 years of related experience.
• A valid B.C Class 5 Driver’s license
• Proof of full Covid-19 Immunization
• Ability to provide or obtain the following upon hire:
  • A First Aid Certificate
  • A Ministry of Justice Criminal Record clearance required if hired
  • A WHMIS certificate

Knowledge and abilities

• Must be able to prioritize and coordinate repairs using own judgment
• Possess good independent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Knowledge and experience in maintaining building interiors including cleaning and minor maintenance
• Knowledge and experience in the operation and repair of mechanical, electrical and building systems
• Knowledge and experience in the use and maintenance of cleaning machines
• Knowledge and experience with cleaning supplies and their appropriate applications
• Knowledge and experience with landscaping and groups maintenance
• Ability to work with people with mental illness
• Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
• Experience with MS Word, Excel, Maintenance Connection is an asset
