About the role:

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for enabling and improving operational performance and reliability of cloud core services to support teams operating in the cloud. Working with internal and external stakeholders, you will manage and improve existing cloud services using DevOps and SRE techniques.

What you’ll be doing

The Coles Cloud Engineering function exists to execute on the Cloud Strategy and manage the ongoing financial, operational and security aspects that arise as a result. From a strategic outcome’s perspective, the Cloud Engineering Team aims to maximise the benefit of cloud migrations, support the SaaS adoptions for speed to market and deliver PaaS and IaaS solutions in line with our risk profile.

The Cloud Engineering Team provides the entry point for Coles Line-of-Business Teams for consumption of Cloud services. The Team aims to enable high degrees of self-service, secure by default provisioning, achieve service level agreements (SLAs), standardise operating practices, automate policy enforcement and continuous risk monitoring reporting.

Working in the Cloud Engineering Team, you will work collaboratively with Cloud & Security Engineers and Business Analysts, with your primary responsibility focussed on Cloud Operations. You will have a passion for operations and building Cloud Native Solutions. As a Cloud Engineer, you will require proficiency in technology, security, and hands-on coding skills.

Some key day to day activities will include:

• Be responsible for building and supporting cloud core infrastructure using CICD Automation
• Implement monitoring and alerting to improve observability and ensure Service SLAs are met.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and configuration-as-code solutions for related activities
• Develop, implement, and maintain monitoring and observability, and DevOps practises & tools for SRE managed products
• Consider and apply security engineering principles across the whole-of-cloud environment including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, XaaS
• Work closely with customer and stakeholders to support application teams working and moving to the cloud
• Review and provide service improvement recommendations on an ongoing basis

Good things you’ll need

• Experience in building, deploying, and supporting Azure based environments.
• Able to perform operational support including pager 24/7 Support as part of a roster.
• Proven experience with Scripting Languages such as PowerShell, Python etc
• Demonstrable knowledge in fully automated Infra-As-Code deployments using Terraform and CICD Tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps)
• Experience with Enterprise networking and cloud native network devices and functions
• Understanding of DevOps/Agile as the core philosophy for software development/delivery
• Logging and monitoring using tools such as DataDog or Splunk.
• Experience with Window or Linux at Scale
• Have exceptional communication skills that can be used to effectively work with key stakeholders
