This position is located in the Bureau of Community Health Systems Southcentral District Office in Harrisburg and supports the organization’s Environmental Health Programs statewide for the implementation of environmental health functions to address public health and safety in a high quality, effective and responsive manner that will positively impact the environmental health programs including Public Bathing Places, Organized Camps, Local Health Officer Certification and assisting with public inquiries. The position provides clerical support and assistance with the Environmental Health Programs for each of the six District offices statewide.
Provides clerical support and assistance to professional staff implementing the Public Bathing Place Program which includes activities related to permitting, inspections, and compliance and enforcement activities for regulated facilities.
Provides clerical support to environmental health program staff by handling orders for program materials and supplies, processing permit application information, assisting with data entry, program communications and correspondence, issuing permits and maintaining program files and records.
Provides clerical support to assigned staff in developing and conducting training for professional staff, local health officer sand environmental health program outreach activities. Distributes educational materials as requested by facility owners and operators and the public.
Answers and logs calls to the Environmental Health Inquiries Database to provide measures on environmental health program activities. Refer calls to environmental health professionals and other agencies as appropriate.

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm, one hour lunch
This position will have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time several days each week and as requested and agreed to by the supervisor, in advance, you will report to headquartered location. To telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to part-time telework, you will have the option to report full-time to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
Eligibility – All Candidates
1. Meet the minimum experience and training required for the job:
Six months as a Clerk Typist 1 and educational development t the level of eighth grade; OR Completion of high school business curriculum which included at least one typing course; OR Any combination of equivalent experience and training.
2. Be a resident of Pennsylvania
3. Be eligible for selection in accordance with Merit System Employment Regulations and Act 71.
This position is subject to the promotion provisions of a collective bargaining agreement or memorandum of understanding.

CLASS RESTRICTIONS
1. Hold or have held regular civil service status in one of the following classifications:
Employees who previously held regular civil service status in the job title of the position being filled are also eligible for promotion without examination.
The promotion without exam requirements are issued in accordance with merit system employment regulations.
2. Minimum experience and training required for the job.
3. Meritorious service; defined as (a) the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting, and (b) the last due overall regular or probationary performance evaluation was satisfactory or higher.
4. Seniority, defined as a minimum of one year(s) in the next lower class(es) by the posting closing date.
