Hapara, a Cordance company, uses their tools help schools make the shift to digital learning by making it easier to view and manage student work in the cloud. They work with Google products such as Google Workspace, Classroom and Chromebooks, making them more efficient and easier to use in the classroom.

Cordance is seeking a Product Designer, for Hapara, who is responsible for designing the interactions, interfaces and workflows to enhance the end user experience of our customers. Their design should facilitate easily performing user tasks and functions in our platform while maintaining the overall integrity of the user experiences across the platform. The Product designer should be an analytical and creative designer who is able to grasp user needs and solve problems. Ultimately, they will be responsible to make our products more user-friendly and intuitive to attract and retain customers.

This is a hybrid role based in Auckland, New Zealand

Responsibilities:

Design

• Understand product specifications and user psychology
• Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success
• Develop wireframes and prototypes around user needs
• Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)
• Produce intuitive design solutions that follow UX best practices and adhere to our evolving design system.
• Propose and deliver intuitive, functional and inclusive design solutions that consider the needs of all users through accessibility, responsive viewports, familiar design patterns and usability best practices.
• Responsible for developing and maintaining Design & Interactions guidelines and standards to ensure consistency of experience across the platform.
• Actively contribute to our evolving design system to ensure there is consistency across the entire Hāpara platform.

User Experience & Research

• Create personas through user research and data
• Conduct user research and usability testing via Focus groups and interviews to get first hand user perspective on improvements and gather feedback
• Conduct regular research activities during discovery, build and post release
• Ensure we are solving the right problems through usage analysis and user interviews
• Validate ideas and solutions through user testing
• Keep abreast of competitor products
• Keep up to date with industry trends in EdTech

Product & Process

• Contribute to and review User Stories with acceptance criteria that provide a shared understanding of what is being built.
• Track and report on usage of enhancements post release.
• Adhere to agile methodologies and practices.
• Ensure deployed solutions meet design standards and acceptance criteria during the development phase through regular design reviews.
• Creation and maintenance of our in-app messaging and campaigns, and regularly look for opportunities to improve feature adoption and user onboarding through this medium.
• Develop In-app User Guides/Education campaigns to promote better adoption and use of our platform

Team

• Understand and contribute to project requirements. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams,.
• Collaborate with internal teams, end users and focus groups to improve products.
• Assist cross-functional teams through various product development initiatives.
• Assist Marketing and Sales teams to ensure all our product collateral meets defined style guidelines.
• Ensure excellent communication and collaboration within and across teams..

Qualifications:

• Have 4+ years of experience in UX/UI and/or software Product design
• Have experience in User engagement/research, interacting with focus groups, desk based research and an analytical mindset
• Believe that learning doesn’t stop. You’re not afraid to learn from failures, and love exploring new design technologies and techniques
• Have a strong portfolio that demonstrates problem solving, and a clean polished style in a variety of design work
• Have a good working knowledge of interface design tools like Figma, Sketch (or similar), and experience with using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Have a basic understanding of HTML and CSS
