Daktronics operates factories in Brookings, Sioux Falls, Redwood Falls, Shanghai, and Ennistymon Ireland. For each of these locations, materials are procured, managed, and then assembled into products for our customers. Each location has factories focused on different customer segments and applications. The Division Materials team is organized around helping the factories bring greater value on Materials related items. This position is part of the Division Materials team.
Responsibilities:
Use Lean Manufacturing concepts to constantly drive out waste within the Inventory, Purchasing, Scheduling, and Shipping processes.
As part of Materials Leadership, develop a materials backlog of improvements, work with leadership on priorities, and lead PI projects for the Materials team.
Use A3 thinking to solve problems and set project parameters.
Lead in the development of inventory processes, such as standard work, cell layout, material presentation, control plans, and best utilization of space.
Recommend process improvement projects to streamline product flow and champion implementation of lean materials concepts across the division of manufacturing.
Work closely with process engineers, inventory teams, buyers, schedulers, shippers, supervisors, and managers to solicit ideas and eliminate wastes within materials processes.
Participate in new product development which may include leading the engineering change process.
Work effectively as a team member with little supervision and communicate effectively across the organization.
Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet internal and external customer expectations.

Manage large-scope projects either in-place in a focused factory or to impact multiple factories.
Break down projects into manageable pieces and effectively delegate to others.
Consistently provide Customer Focus by communicating via first-person methods (in person or via phone) and by going to the where the work is done (Gemba).
Developing and Sharing Technical Expertise:
Build expertise through documentation, hands-on use, external training, and technical publications. Actively seek knowledge through other methods as necessary, including suppliers, vendors, or internal contacts.
Consistently support escalations with the appropriate urgency as they arise.
Consistently champion for safe, stable, and documented manufacturing processes
Cross-Factory Collaboration:
Foster and lead collaboration between all factories.
Create a plan for success through regular multi-factory meetings.
Recognize relevant agenda items.
Prep for and lead/chair monthly meetings.
Capture action items and assign to appropriate resources.
General Expectations:
Effectively work in a team environment and build collaborative relationships.
Demonstrate ability to recognize and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution and leading through influence.
Travel to customer factories approximately monthly. Travel multiple times per year to perform benchmarking or attend trade shows to develop and maintain technical expertise.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Prefer candidates who have degrees in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar degree program required.
Experience in materials preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
Ability to work with little supervision and be a self-starter.
Ability to interact with a variety of manufacturing and engineering employees in a positive, professional manner.
Ability to travel via ground and air. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
Ability to meet all travel and safety requirements, which includes following safety and vaccination protocols.
Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
