Dentologie Looking for Senior Software Engineer at Chicago, IL Full Time

Dentologie isn’t your parent’s dentist office. We know our patients are busy, and scheduling a dental appointment is low on their priority list. Our founders (three life-long friends and dentists!) wanted to make the process as easy as calling a car or sending a text. We’ve created an app that allows you to easily schedule an appointment in our amazing offices that are located just down the street from where you live.

Our combination of industry changing technology and personable/affordable care makes us truly unique, and we’re growing quickly. Located throughout Chicago, we have opened nine dental office locations with plans to double in size over the next two years. To support our incredible growth, our team has grown to over 190 employees.

We are building technology to both delight patients and match our ambitions. To that end, we need a Senior Software Engineer to help us to create a scalable, sustainable, and user-friendly group of apps and systems. We are seeking an experienced developer who can thrive in a start-up environment, make technology decisions on their own, and focus on the needs of the patients and business. Working closely with the VP of Technology, this individual will push the dental industry to innovate its’ approach to technology and patient experience.

Where will I be located?

The selected candidate will be in the United States of America. Our headquarters, founding members, dental offices and clinical staff are currently all based in Chicago, so proximity to Chicago is preferred but not required.

Who will I report to?

You will report directly to Adam Greuling, our VP of Technology.

What will I make?

Dentologie offers a competitive base salary, bonus, and full benefit package. We are happy to discuss specifics around compensation for this role with qualified candidates during the initial interview.

What will I do?

This individual is responsible for building, maintaining, and helping design software applications across the organization, to support the core company business goals and enhance patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities include:

• Build and maintain software for patients, dentists and staff that brings joy and ease to their day.
• Work with the founders & leadership team to provide product and engineering direction.
• Design creative solutions to complex technical and operational problems.
• Develop scalable solutions that work well for an expansive vision.
• Set standards for deployment, quality, testing and monitoring.
• Monitor and improve system performance and security.

What are the requirements?

• 3 to 6 years of experience with backend development in: Go, JavaScript, Python or Ruby.
• Some experience in front-end development with a JavaScript framework.
• 2 to 5 years of experience with core AWS services: EC2, Lambda, RedShift, S3, ELB, CloudWatch.
• Experience with Github Actions.
• Experience with ReactNative mobile development a plus.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Chicago at least 3 times a year.
