Department of Internal Affairs NZ Looking for Library Assistant at Wellington City, Wellington Full Time

The National Library of New Zealand has the mandate to make the National Library’s collections accessible to provide for the most valuable use of those collections and resources.

As a Library Assistant with Collection Delivery you will be assigned a range of activities working with the published collections of the National Library.

• Complete requests for books, serials, newspapers for the Reading Room and external patrons
• Shelve returns and carry out collection maintenance tasks
• Construct, add and modify bibliographic holdings
• Other tasks agreed with manager.

This is a full-time position.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent)
• Knowledge and experience of basic library routines and procedures
• Our preferred candidate will have a genuine interest in developing a career in the library sector
• Experience using standard computer packages
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Ability to fulfil the physical requirements of the position, which will include the lifting of heavy items and boxing collections for moves.
